BWI Companies, Inc. of Nash, Texas has acquired substantially all the assets of Fort Worth, Texas-based Harvest Supply Company.

Harvest’s storied history dates back to 1939 when brothers William P. Cranz and Gus E. Cranz founded Harvest Seed Company, a retail store offering seeds, grains and gardening products on 7th Street west of downtown Fort Worth.  In the 1960’s Harvest began selling wholesale and eventually transitioned to selling only to retailers and professional landscapers under the Harvest Supply Company name.  In 2004 Harvest entered the growth market of organic gardening by acquiring competitor Marshall Distributing Company, along with its popular Nature’s Guide® branded organic product lines.  Harvest distributes products to retail businesses such as garden centers, nurseries, farm stores and hardware stores, as well as commercial growers, professional landscapers and municipalities throughout Texas.

BWI, headquartered near Texarkana, Texas, distributes similar products across the Mid-South and Southeastern U.S. through its 14 locations and 8 full-line distribution centers.  According to CEO Jim Bunch, BWI plans to expand the number and geographic scope of the Nature’s Guide® organic product offerings.

Harvest was represented in the sale by Kasper & Associates, Fort Worth’s leading merger and acquisition firm since 1984.  Managing Partner Layne Kasper acted as the company’s exclusive representative by initiating, structuring and negotiating terms of the transaction.

I have been using Harvest Supply for many of my landscape products. Will I be able to continue?

Who is responsible for the Nature’s Guide Tomato & Pepper Insect Spray? It was purchased at Mike’s Garden Center on Crowley Rd. In Ft. Worth. Sprayed my healthy and robust tomato and pepper plant with this product, and within 45 minutes they both are withering and dying!
