The Economy: Bear, Bull or Deer?

Comments   |   General

If your career is in finance, banking or in manufacturing and distribution entities in Texas you most likely know that people want to do business here.  Of our two most recent transactions, the companies were sold to investors who had migrated to Texas.

Today’s economic environment in states other than Texas is a rollercoaster few enjoy.  Instead of bear or bull market, what’s happening in many other states with employment and their overall economy is a “deer” market.  A “deer” market is one where many business leaders act like a deer caught in an approaching vehicle’s headlights.  You might ask, “Why are the headlights freezing many business leaders?”  It’s uncertainty.

What are folks uncertain about?  Several things.  Is the U.S. going to war with China, Russia or Iran?  Will there be more horrific terrorist attacks?  What about the upcoming election?

The only way our economy is going to move in the right direction is for business leaders to start leading.  Now is the time to make strong and prudent business decisions, like fair play, hard work and providing value to customers.  As Dr. Stephen R. Covey wrote in one of his books, “People don’t buy from those they like…they buy from those they trust.”

In my opinion, all successful business leaders have the habit of doing things failures don’t like to do.  They don’t like doing them either, but their dislike is subordinated to the strength of their purpose.

At Kasper & Associates our purpose is to provide trustworthy brokerage services to owners of North Texas manufacturing, distribution and B2B companies with annual sales revenue from $1-70 million.  Over the 40 years of our business, roughly 70 percent of our clients have been referred by professionals like yourself.  For this we are very grateful.

Success for most of us is a journey, not a destination.  A marathon, not a sprint.  We’re thankful that we can be on the journey with you.

God Bless Texas!
